We are awakening to the fact that each of us and all elements of life are interconnected within our Earth home, but our culture still champions the individual rather than the welfare of our local and global communities.
Gaining in knowledge of how our interconnected Earth system works, then uncovering and shifting our consciousness is a major element of our EAN mission.
Our need for education is twofold – gaining in essential knowledge and growing in consciousness (inner work) and then committing to act on this knowledge (outer work) as we go forward. We believe this attitude can be regenerated by education, taken in its broadest sense to include growth in both rational and transcendent aspects of continuous learning.
Following are brief descriptions of our courses, with links to a more detailed description and registration. Upcoming offerings are also listed on our EVENTS page.
The Empowered Elders Network: EAN’s Foundation Workshop
This foundation workshop presents the fundamental premise of why we exist – to reclaim and take up our sorely-needed roles as awakened elders within our communities and globally. The course covers the underlying principles and ideas of EAN and invites a shift from individual self to global self and from “aging older” to “empowered Elder”. Seven sessions cover the role of the Elder, the state of the world requiring us to step up, and the opportunities for Elders to engage in making a positive difference. Learn more HERE
New Worldview Workshop
This workshop is about a person’s worldview... how that worldview influences how we live, how we treat Earth, and how we relate to each other. Today, with 7.6 billion humans and growing on a finite planet, our worldview needs to change from seeing Earth as a dead rock to seeing it as a living system. Our new worldview will ensure clean water, fresh air and productive soil for future generations. Learn more HERE
Choices for Sustainable Living
This highly interactive workshop guides us through the incredible workbook from the Northwest Earth Institute to spark shared learning and shared stories among like-minded people. Sustainability is a complex and somewhat contradictory concept, but at its best represents the hope for a healthy, just and bright future for us all. Choices for Sustainable Living provides participants with the powerful opportunity to explore and envision a sustainable world from individual, societal and global perspectives. You will discover new ways to make change more possible and powerful, both individually and in community. Learn more HERE
Waking Up to Our Own History
Using a social justice lens we will explore the history of white supremacy and systemic racism in the US, and how it disconnects us from our authentic sense of self, particularly as elders. This four session, interactive workshop is based upon seeking right relationship to all peoples and our Mother Earth. As we endeavor to learn the truth about our own family history we better understand our place now, particularly as elders and people dedicated to creating a better world for future generations. We will contend with and challenge ourselves with the question, what is our elder role in the current culture, as we face the social injustices in our lifetime, in our lineage, and how to proclaim a moral voice for a better world?
